The Morning Score

The Morning Score: Wednesday

Stephen Ireland thinks about texting Trap, Leinster in line to sign an up-and-coming Ireland star and the Cavan winter training ban furore rumbles on.

EVERY MORNING, TheScore.ie brings you the sport stories you need to know with your morning coffee.

1. #LOCATION, LOCATION The Munster hurling final could be staged behind enemy lines next year.

The Waterford secretary Timmy O’Keeffe suggests in his annual report that Nowlan Park be used as a ‘home’ venue for Munster hurling championship games.

Walsh Park is too small and the Déise do not have the money to build a bigger stadium in order to acede to the Munster Council’s home-and-away finals plan,  the Irish Examiner reports.

2. # TRACTOR BOYS After the club yesterday denied any training ground fight took place this week, Damien Delaney says he did not scrap with manager Roy Keane.

The Irish Independent reports the former Turner’s Cross defender as saying: “I don’t know where the story has come from, but it’s total rubbish. It’s completely untrue.”

3. #IRELAND’S CALL Stephen Ireland is ready to call Giovanni Trapattoni to clear the way for his international return, the Mirror reports.

4. #RUGBY Ireland and Connacht front-row star Sean Cronin is poised to join Leinster next season – in a snub to his native Munster.

The Examiner’s Barry Coughlan reports that Cronin reckons there is too much competition at Thomond Park.

5. #EUROPA LEAGUE Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson sounds like a man trying to convince himself when he says that he doesn’t ‘fear for his job’ despite the unacceptable performance of his side this year.

Fernando Torres will play in the dead rubber with Utrecht tonight.

Carlos Tevez, meanwhile, will not face Juventus tomorrow, despite returning to training yesterday.

His ‘adviser’ Kia Joorabchian says  that the submission of a written transfer request had nothing to do with financial demands.

6. #WINTER  OF DISCONTENT Despite Cavan’s denial of any wrongdoing earlier in the week, GAA President Christy Cooney says the Breffni county will lose some of their gate receipts as a punishment if they’re proven to have broken the winter training ban.

7. #FAIRYHOUSE There is a terrific programme on the cards this afternoon after a couple of frustrating weeks for racing fans.

8. #HEAD-ON Footballers are three times more likely to be concussed during a game than hurlers, according to new facts from the GAA’s injury database which was revealed yesterday.

9. #CELEBRATION The Eagles’ DeSean Jackson one ups the showboats with this 91 yard fall-into-the-end-zone-touchdown versus the Cowboys.

Show me the money, Jerry!
