1. #NORTHERN LIGHTS (PART I) Michael McKillop completed a special Paralympic double in London last night as he blew apart the field to take gold in the 1500m T37 final. The Antrim native made another piece of history at the medal ceremony when he was presented with his gold medal by his mother, Catherine.

2. #NORTHERN LIGHTS (PART II) World number one Rory McIlroy won the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston last night to move to the top of the FedEx Cup standings. McIlroy fired his second consecutive four-under-par 67 to win by one shot from South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen.

3. #LION KING The worst kept secret in rugby is expected to be confirmed later this morning when Warren Gatland is appointed to coach the Lions Tour of Australia next summer. An announcement will be made in London today.

4. #AIRTRICITY LEAGUE Sligo Rovers cemented their place at the top of the Airtricity League Premier Division last night with a 3-1 win at home to Bohemians. In the evening’s other game, St Patrick’s Athletic kept up their pursuit with a 3-0 win against Derry City in Inchicore.

5. #RYDER CUP US captain Davis Love III is expected to name his four captain’s picks for this year’s Ryder Cup later today. Steve Stricker, Brandt Snedeker, Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan are among those thought to feature on Love’s shortlist.

6. #US OPEN Andy Murray is through to the US Open quarter-finals after beating Milos Raonic 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in Flushing Meadows last night. In the women’s draw, Serena Williams and Ana Ivanovic also won in straight sets.
