The Morning Score: Friday

The weekend is almost upon us.

Every morning TheScore.ie brings you the stories you need to hear about before that first cup of coffee.

1. #MIXED FORTUNES Two teams were in Iceland representing the Airtricity League in Europe last night and while St Patrick’s Athletic found a crucial away goal to progress past IBV, fellow Dubliners Bohemians suffered humiliation at the hands of second division team Thor Akureyri.

The Saints were 2-0 down on the night when Stephen O’Flynn popped up in extra time to send them through to the next round. Bohs, meanwhile, scored first thanks to David Scully but went on to concede five on a night to forget.

2. #CRISIS Elsewhere in the League of Ireland, the situation at Dundalk FC continues to worsen as last night it was announced that manager Sean McCaffrey has departed. The former Ireland underage boss came to a mutual agreement with the Lilywhites, who are currently seeking a new owner in a bid to inject much-needed funds, and in a statement, the club said that  ”both parties believe this is in the best interests of all concerned.”

3. #MUNSTER SHC Waterford have made three changes to their starting XV for the Munster SHC final meeting with Tipperary on Sunday. Noel Connors returns in place of Aidan Kearney, Tony Browne comes in for Richie Foley at wing-back and Pauric Mahony makes an unexpected return, who plays ahead of Eoin Kelly.

4. #LE TOUR Frenchman Pierre Rolland was victorious in the 11th stage of the Tour de France yesterday with race leader Bradley Wiggins edging a step closer to becoming the first British rider to win the race overall. Read more here.

5. #TRIAL John Terry will this afternoon discover his faith when the verdict is given on his high profile court case. The Chelsea captain allegedly abused QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League game last October, although he claims he is innocent.
