The Morning Score: Friday

Thank God it’s Friday morning’s round-up of the sports news stories.

1. #TRIAL Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will leave a south London court room this evening before dashing to Vicarage Road to take charge of his side’s FA Cup fourth-round tie with Watford.

We’ll liveblog the action throughout the night.

Redknapp and his co-defendant, former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric, are accused of allegedly concealing two transfer payments worth $295,000 in a Monaco bank account to avoid paying taxes. Both men deny the charges.

Yesterday, jurors were played a tape of the Tottenham Hotspur manager’s questioning by London police on the fourth day of his trial for allegedly cheating the public revenue.

2. #AUSTRALIAN OPEN Novak Djokovic is, at the time of writing, one game up in the first set of the his semi-final against Scotland’s Andy Murray.

The winner will face Rafa Nadal on Sunday; the Spaniard beat Roger Federer yesterday in Melbourne.

3. #TRANSFER WINDOW Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has hit out at Indian owners Venky’s, claiming they “don’t understand” English football, as he continues to push for a move away from Ewood Park.

The highly-rated centre-half insists he wants a ‘divorce’ from the club.

4. #ABU DHABI Rory McIlroy started his season well yesterday but he began today’s second round at the Abu Dhabi Championship by dropping a shot on the first. Keep up to date on the live scores here.

5. #GAA Dr Crokes insist they do not want their supporters kept separate when they meet Armagh opposition as ‘totally untrue’.

Crokes will face Crossmaglen Rangers in the All Ireland Senior Club Championsip semi-final next month. A statement released yesterday explained: “We’ve brought juvenile members to all our games this year and they have been together for the games.

“However we believe that there will be a large attendance at the game in Portlaoise and hence our reason for looking for an area where these can be accommodated together. All other interpretation of the clubs requests are a misinterpretation of the facts and the Club is in no way calling for segregation of supporters.”
