The Joey Barton story, chapter 143: "The ref was conned."

The loquacious QPR midfielder insists that the referee was fooled and that he never headbutted Norwich’s Bradley Johnson.

JOEY BARTON HAS hit out at the “ridiculous decision” to send him off in QPR 2-1 defeat to Norwich at Loftus Road on Monday.

The former Newcastle midfielder, who had put his side ahead after 11 minutes, saw red when he appeared to headutt Canaries midfielder Bradley Johnson.

However, Barton immediately took to his trusted Twitter feed to blame everybody but himself.

“Well feel for the officials, they’ve been conned. Admitted to me at HT they never saw it. I was pulled back 1st, then kicked 2nd,” he said.

“Linesman definitely never saw it, all he seen was Johnsons reaction. My head dosent move forward at all. Ridiculous decision seen 25 replays.”

“I’d be 1st to apologise if I’d reacted,” he lied. “Cannot apologise as I know I’ve not head butted anyone. Disappointed for the lads and the fans.
“Make ur own minds up when u see it. The games gone!”

Barton now wants to see the sending off rescinded.

“Hopefully referee sees it retrospectively and sees he’s been conned. Its no consolation for us right now but at least its something.”
