The Guv'nor is back: Paul Ince takes over at Blackpool

We wonder what Thomas will make of being managed by his old man…

BLACKPOOL HAVE NAMED Paul Ince as their new manager.

The 45-year-old, who has been out of work since leaving Notts County in 2011, takes over at the Npower Championship club currently sitting 14th in the table after agreeing a one-year rolling contract.

The appointment sees former Manchester United, Liverpool and Inter Milan midfielder link up with his son Thomas, a highly-rated England U21 international who has 17 goals this season.

“It’s great to be here,” Ince Snr told the club’s official website. “Considering I’ve watched the team play for the last 14 months, it’s strange sitting here as the manager, having obviously watched Blackpool as a fan as well as watching my son play.”

I’m over the moon though and delighted, it’s great to be back on the training ground and great to be involved with, and in charge of, a great bunch of lads.

“I’ve worked with a lot of players and the spirit and togetherness of the lads is absolutely fantastic. I’m glad I’ve been given the opportunity by Karl Oyston.”

Blackpool visit Elland Road to take on Leeds on Wednesday night for what will be his first game in charge.

Modesty is not a quality attributable to the modern GAA player. These guys are more full of themselves than any professional footballer.

Sean Cavanagh was probably the best all round footballer of the last fiftheen years or so he could play any where backs midfield or forwards.
