ONE SUSPECTS THAT Robin Van Persie will be in an Arsenal jersey at the beginning of the Premier League season before he is sold for a handsome price at the end of August.
However, that has not stopped media outlets, the world over, speculating on the Dutchman’s footballing whereabouts for the foreseeable future.
It seems ‘sources’ close to van Persie are leaking details of his innermost thoughts and desires on a daily basis. Perhaps these sources think that following him on Twitter or Facebook accounts for friendship in this fast moving world.

And it is with the hair-gelled striker that we begin. The Mirror, Guardian, Sky Sports and venerable sporting news organisation FOX Sports are all running stories today claiming that Manchester United have outfoxed their rivals to van Persie’s signature.
There is no doubt that Alex Ferguson would welcome the 28-year-old into his ranks, and United have enough cash left for one more big transfer, but Arsene Wenger would like to think that he can influence proceedings. United, currently on tour, have been silent on the matter.
Martin Skrtel, a player who could have a full head of flowing hair if he could be bothered to maintain it, is trying his best to make room for more Liverpool transfer additions – by leaving the club.
“I am a player of Liverpool because I have a valid contract here,” the Slovakian proclaimed. “There exist a number of offers but without the permission of Liverpool nothing can move forward.”
Manchester City are mooted to be one of the defender’s handsome suitors.

Liverpool fans could console themselves with the signing of Welsh midfielder Joe Allen before praying for one more season of Jamie Carragher magic in a restored centre-back role.
Brendan Rodgers wants a bit for craft and gut-busting in his midfield and is said to be keen on the Swansea midfielder, although no official offer has been made. Rodgers said:
(Allen) is a very talented player, which everyone knows but there is nothing more at the moment. When players come to a club such as Liverpool, it’s never straightforward.”
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has never been entirely convinced about the goal-scoring merits of Edin Dzeko but that has not stopped the club from plonking his name right in the middle of transfer speculation by leaving it to the striker to deny that may be off to AC Milan to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
