Tamas won't appeal three-game suspension

The West Brom defender has been suspended for three matches after a clash with James Vaughan left the Norwich start requiring plastic surgery.

WEST BROM DEFENDER Gabriel Tomas has been handed a three-match ban following an elbowing incident involving Norwich striker James Vaughan at the weekend.

The latter needed hospital treatment after Tomas twisted and made contact with the Norwich substitute during West Brom’s 1-0 win at Carrow Road on Sunday and despite pleading his innocence, both club and player have decided not to appeal the FA suspension.

“We have spoken at length with Gabriel and he is adamant that he did not intentionally elbow James in the face,” the Baggies legal director/ secretary Richard Garlick told the club’s official website.

“However, he admits the way he turned in the penalty area was clumsy and he has apologised to James through a mutual friend for the injury he has suffered.”

Tamas will now miss his club’s Premier League fixtures against Swansea, Everton and Fulham while Vaughan himself confirmed that he required plastic surgery following the incident.
