SWANSEA CITY HAVE signed defender Dwight Tiendalli on a free transfer as a replacement for injured full-back Neil Taylor.

Tiendalli, 26, began his career at Ajax, before going on to play for FC Utrecht and Feyenoord.  A three-year spell at Twente ended when he was released during the close-season.

The former Netherlands Under-21 defender joins English Premier League outfit Swansea on a season-long deal after Neil Taylor broke his ankle at home to Sunderland earlier this month.

Taylor has since been ruled out for the remainder of the season, leaving manager Michael Laudrup in need of defensive options. Tiendalli completed his medical at the Liberty Stadium on Monday, with the necessary clearance expected to be granted before Swansea resume domestic action away to Aston Villa on 15 September.
