Today's Super League Grand Final was overshadowed by this brutal act of violence

Prop Ben Flower was sent off as early as the second minute.

Updated at 21.07

SIA SOLIOLA SIGNED off at St Helens in style by scoring a try as they beat Wigan 14-6 to win the Super League Grand Final at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground on Saturday.

However, the game was particularly bad tempered, with one particular moment of violence overshadowing the rugby, in a match that ultimately saw Wigan reduced to 12 men.

Prop Ben Flower was sent off as early as the second minute, as the Welshman reacted badly to a clash with former New Zealand Warriors man Lance Hohaia, throwing two punches at the St Helens stand-off, one while Hohaia was lying helpless on the floor.

Ah here….. Understand players been fired up but no place for that in any sport. Wouldn’t look out of place in an Octagon

For the second punch, he should be looking at minimum 1 year global ban from the sport, all the way up to life time ban. That was absolutely disgusting.

His club should sack him at once.
Criminal charges should also be issued.
He should be banned so not to pick up a new club.

No. Absolutely not handbags. I’m all for physicality in sport but punching a guy who is laid out already is the act of an absolute w*nk*r.

Absolutely no excuse for hitting a man on the ground. Should never be allowed anywhere near a rugby match again.
