LIVERPOOL DUO LUIS Suarez and Steven Gerrard have both been named Premier League Player of the Month for March — the sixth time that the award has been shared between two players.
Suarez scored six goals as the Reds won all five of their games and climbed to the top of the table for the first time since Christmas.
But the Uruguayan insisted that the honour rightly belongs to Liverpool skipper Gerrard who weighed in with four goals of his own.
“This prize is more important for Stevie,” Suarez told the club site.
“I spoke with him about what we’re going to do with one prize because we’ve both won Player of the Month – but it’s for him for all he’s done in his career.”
Brendan Rodgers won Manager of the Month to complete an awards hat-trick ahead of Sunday’s title showdown against Manchester City.
“For the two guys, it is great reward for their efforts,” he said.
“Luis has been incredible in that period, with his goalscoring and relentless work-rate.
“And Stevie, I’m really pleased for him; people might have looked at Stevie this season as a swansong season leading into the World Cup. But I never felt that at all.”
