IT WAS “TEBOW TIME” again in Denver last night as American sport’s most divisive personality spearheaded another fourth-quarter rally, his Broncos beating the Chicago Bears 13-10 in overtime.
Matt Prater nailed a 59-yard field goal with three seconds left in regulation play to tie the game up and then a 51-yarder to seal the win, but the headlines in America this morning are all about Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.
Again.
Since he was promoted as the franchise’s starting quarterback two months ago, Tebow has shrugged off criticism of his pass-lite style to lead the Broncos to six straight wins and seven wins from eight, many of which have come in dramatic fourth-quarter comebacks.
The 24-year-old’s ability to pull games out of the fire late on has led to the fourth quarter being dubbed “Tebow Time”, a phenomenon which now appears dangerously close to becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. Having led 10-0 with just over two minutes to play last night, the Bears handed Tebow the opportunity to win when Marion Barber carried the ball out of bounds, giving Denver one last shot at a game-tying field goal.
Barber’s disastrous evening was complete a few minutes later when he fumbled the Bears’ possession away in overtime, allowing Tebow to drive Prater back into range.
“If you believe,” Tebow said, “then unbelievable things can sometimes be possible.”
Next up, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
He couldn’t, could he?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a set of pundits having as much fun.
Next week should be fun…
There’s something about this kid….
Ya good shot at the pats. Giants showed how you beat the Pats. You blitz Tom brady, In Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil the Broncos have the players to do it. And the Pats D certainly is far from great.
He has a shot against the Pats! They’re leaking points of late and Denver are a good defensive unit. I would love to see the look on the Pats’ faces if there’s a final drive 4th Quater win for Denver next week.
