VIDEO: Steven Gerrard talks about how a psychiatrist transformed his career

The comments come on the back of news that Steve Peters has joined the England set-up.

LIVERPOOL AND ENGLAND star Steven Gerrard has spoken about how a psychiatrist helped transform his career.

Gerrard said that Steve Peters has “helped me with mental preparation going into games” and enabled the midfielder to “understand what goes on in my head”.

The comments come on the back of news that Peters has joined the England set-up, having previously worked with Gerrard and others at Liverpool.

“It is not just any psychologist,” Hodgson told a press conference on Tuesday. “It is Dr Steve Peters, who is a very famous man in that area.

“He has a great CV of working in different sports and has been doing some work with Liverpool and (Liverpool manager) Brendan Rodgers, so Steve [Gerrard] knows him well.
