6 sporting endeavours you can take part in St Stephen's day

From the Puc Fada to horse racing, you’ve plenty of choice.

SOME OF YOU may have stuffed yourself with turkey or over-indulged on the eggnog yesterday so here in TheScore.ie we thought you might like a few ideas to get you out and about today.

If you know of any sporting events taking place that we might have missed, and I’m sure there are, let us know in the comments below.

Take part in a Poc Fada

Where: There are numerous events taking place in GAA clubs the length and breadth of the country.

Why: Fresh air and the chance to whack a piece of cork and leather as far as you can. Sounds like a good way to work out any tension you may have built up and the in-laws.

Have a swim

Where: There are lots of places to take a dip, but wherever you swim, be sure to stay safe.

Why: Forget the cold, it’s a great way to work off some of those indulgences from yesterday.

Take a punt on the gee gees

Where: The Leopardstown Christmas Festival starts today and there’s also racing from Limerick.

Why: Racing’s a great excuse to get dressed up and have craic with your mates. Don’t gamble more than you can afford to lose though.

Pound the pavement

Where: The Clonmel four mile road race is just one event taking place but you can get out anywhere yourself.

Why: Whether you’re taking part in an organised event or just out on your own, running’s a great, cheap (free!) way to get your sport on.

Play in a married v singles football match

Where: There’s definitely one taking place in St Brigid’s in Blanchardstown.

Why: Not just fun but a nice way of seeing just how good some of those minor footballers are.

Or just spend the day with Jeff and the lads

Where: Your couch

Why: Well it’s not exactly sporting but with all that Premier League action, you could do worse.
