FORMER WORLD NUMBER five Stephen Lee says he is innocent and has “done nothing wrong” after being hit with a 12-year ban earlier today.
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association found the 38-year-old guilty on seven counts of match fixing at a hearing earlier this month, with this ban meaning Lee would be unlikely to ever play snooker again as a professional.
Lee has responded to the charge in the last hour when approached by reporters outside his home.
I’m absolutely devastated. I’ve done nothing wrong, totally innocent from this. I will be making a public statement later on. I’m just going to see my lawyer.”
Under the rules of the WPBSA, Lee has the right to appeal the finding and the sentence imposed.
