IRELAND YOUTH INTERNATIONAL Stephen Folan is set to make his Airtricity League comeback with Limerick FC.
Folan, 21, signed a dream move to Newcastle United in the summer of 2008 but his bid to break into the Toon first team stalled following a spate of injuries.
Now the young defender is in line to become Limerick’s latest addition as new manager Stuart Taylor strengthens his squad for their first season back in the Premier Division.
“Absolutely buzzing I’ve got my future sorted,” Folan tweeted last night. “Looking forward to exciting times @LimerickFCie can’t wait for the new season.”
Limerick have yet to confirm the signing.
A native of Galway, Folan played for Mervue United, Galway Hibernians and Salthill Devon before he was snapped up by Newcastle at the age of 16.
He made his debut for the reserves in October 2008 but injuries prevented him from making any first-team appearances for the Magpies.
