Brogan wants 'peculiar fish' Cluxton to stay involved for 2014

The Dublin captain is massively important, according to teammate Bernard Brogan.

CAPTAIN STEPHEN CLUXTON has ‘loads left’ to give to the Dublin cause according to attacker Bernard Brogan.

Cluxton lead Dublin to All-Ireland glory in September but there has been some suggestions that he may opt to bring the curtain down on his inter-county career.

Yet Brogan believes ‘peculiar fish’ Cluxton is a pillar of the Dublin side who has the capacity to remain at the top of his game.

“I’ve heard rumours. He’s a peculiar fish at the best of times, he just needs a bit of love every now and again.

“I’m sure he’ll be back. He’s massively important as you’ve seen over the last few years. The coolness to come down and kick frees. Over the last 15 years, it was something we had lost out without a consistent freetaker but Clucko’s brought that from distance.

“He’s massively important. He’s not a big talker but he does what he does. He just leads that way. He’s put massive effort into Dublin over the years and I think he’s loads left.

“He’s the fittest man, he’s top of every sprint and long run. Hopefully he’ll be back and we won’t lose anybody for next year.”
