Final two

Cats in control - St Kieran's and Kilkenny CBS set up Leinster colleges hurling final clash

It will be the fourth time in five years that the Kilkenny school rivals will clash.

IT WILL BE an all-Kilkenny affair in this year’s Corn Uí Dhúill final after today’s semi-final action.

For third successive year – and the fourth time in five years – rivals Kilkenny CBS and St Kieran’s College will meet in the decider.

Kilkenny CBS won last year’s final by five points but St Kieran’s won the 2010 and 2012 meetings between the schools.

Reigning champions Kilkenny CBS enjoyed a 1-16 to 0-13 win over Good Counsel at the Waterford IT GAA complex in Carriganore. The teams were level at 0-8 apiece at the interval before Robbie Buckley’s goal enabled Kilkenny CBS to pull clear and triumph.

At the Carlow GAA training centre in Fenagh, St Kieran’s were far too strong for Coláiste Eoin as they ran out 13-point winners by 2-14 to 0-7. Sean Morrissey’s first-half goal helped them lead by 1-10 to 0-2 at the interval and they held on to succeed from there.
