Here’s our SSE Airtricity League Premier Division Team of the Week

St Patrick’s Athletic striker Christy Fagan is the first name on this week’s teamsheet thanks to four goals in his last two games.

Goalkeeper

Mark McNulty (Cork City) – A number of smart saves kept Athlone at bay in a closely-contested game at Turner’s Cross on Friday night.

Defence

Sean Gannon (Dundalk) – The full-back put in a superb performance in last night’s 5-2 win over UCD after a solid 90 minutes on Friday.

Conor Kenna (Shamrock Rovers) –Dealt very well with every Sligo opportunity that came his way.

Mark Langtry (UCD) – May not have been able to stop Dundalk last night but was part of a solid UCD backline in the 0-0 draw with Bray.

Midfield

Conan Byrne (St Patrick’s Athletic) – Second top goalscorer in the league behind team-mate Christy Fagan after a well-taken hat-trick last night.

Daryl Horgan (Dundalk) – Scored in both of the Lilywhites’ wins over the past few days and the former Cork City man is undoubtedly one of the acquisitions of the season.

Shane Duggan (Limerick) – The Limerick captain produced a powerful performance from central midfield and scored the goal of the game with a brilliant first half volley.

Ronan Finn (Shamrock Rovers) – Finn had the Sligo defence under pressure for the whole first-half, and created numerous opportunities.

Danny Galbraith (Limerick) – The Scot was Limerick’s creative force in a pacy and inventive attacking performance. Both probed and counter attacked with verve.

Forwards

Christy Fagan (St Patrick’s Athletic) – Saints striker Fagan followed up his hat-trick on Friday night with a goal in last night’s win over Drogheda to bring his league tally for the season to 13.

Mark O’Sullivan (Cork City) – His header was the difference in the 1-0 win over Athlone Town and unlucky to be denied a second by goalkeeper Paul Skinner.
