Speirs shows Ireland's eventers the way

The Kildare native is tied for 27th place at the end of day two.

KILDARE’S CAMILA SPEIRS is the best placed of the Irish riders after day two of the Olympic eventing competition in Greenwich Park.

Spiers, 22, is tied for 27th place overall after a well-executed ride on board her own horse Portersize Just A Jiff scored 47.60 points.

The only other Irish competitor in action on day two, Wicklow’s Mark Kyle, is 61st out of the 74 competitors. On board Coolio, he scored 58.70 points this afternoon.

Dubliner Aoife Clark (Master Crusoe) is in 32nd place, Joseph Murphy (Electric Cruise) is in 53rd and Michael Ryan (Ballylynch Adventure) is in 64th.

Ireland lie 10th in the team standings as the riders turn their attention to cross-country tomorrow before the competition finishes with showjumping on Tuesday.
