Snapshot: Speed skating champ takes gold medal in her stride, runner-up goes nuts

Success is relative, I suppose. While Jianrou Li kept her emotions and her feet in check during and after the 500 metre sprint, Fontana fell.

Fortunately for her and this AP cameraman, she was one of three taking a slide and was able to recover in time to make the podium.

Team GB’s Elise Christie attempted to pass Fontana, but tripped up both racers and also Seunghi Park, who hit the ice last of the three but was beaten to second by the Italian.

Serious credit must go to Li, though. Way to keep your distance, champ.
