WOLVES HAVE APPOINTED StÃ¥le Solbakken as the club’s new manager, with the Norwegian taking over on 1 July, 2012.
Jez Moxey, the Wolves chief executive, confirmed the appointment in a statement on the club’s website on Friday.
“Following talks with StÃ¥le Solbakken I am happy to confirm that he has agreed to become our new manager. He will be formally introduced to the media on Monday.”
The 44-year-old Solbakken, who had a brief stint in England with Wimbledon in the 1990s, was recently sacked as manager of FC Cologne in the Bundesliga. He will now take charge of the Midlands club following their relegation back to the Coca-Cola Championship.
“I am delighted to be taking up the important challenge to manage Wolves,” he said. “It’s an exciting opportunity to manage a great club and I can’t wait to get started.”
Terry Connor, who failed to win a single game since taking over from former manager Mick McCarthy in February, will take charge of the team for the final time against Wigan on Sunday.
