Smooth win at Gowran Park for Sizing Europe

The 2011 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner beat Forpadyplasterer into second place in the PWC Champion Chase.

SIZING EUROPE MADE a winning return to action by taking victory in the PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park on Saturday.

It was the 16th success in 32 races for Henry de Bromhead’s stable star, who won the same race quite fortunately last year.

China Rock and Joncol pulled out of the two-and-a-half mile test beforehand but it was still no procession for Sizing Europe, with I Hear A Symphony tearing up the early stages.

However, the 11-10 favourite always had the lead in his sights and jumped to the front in the Grade Two contest two fences from the end.

He pulled away at the end, the 2011 Queen Mother Champion Chase victor beating Forpadydeplasterer into second by seven and a half lengths.

I Hear A Symphony was third.

Andrew Lynch was the winning jockey, having only returned recently from a broken leg sustained in Cork last May.
