CONAL KEANEY IS refusing to be rushed as he attempts to get back to full fitness.
The Dublin hurler has been sidelined since last July, when he was in a motorcycle accident days before Dublin’s All-Ireland quarter-final against Limerick.
The former intercounty footballer sustained a broken ankle as well as torn knee ligaments.
“I’m probably on target for where I should be at the moment,” Keaney said today, “I’m just trying to get as much weight as I can into my knee at the moment. I’m spending a lot of time in the gym trying to boost it up.
“It’s very hard to know. With an injury like that, they can give you maybe a rough idea with a cruciate but not with a lateral and a cruciate together because not many people have done the two.
“That’s why I am being a bit cautious and making sure I get it right. The last thing I want to do is to go back too soon and for it to go again,” he added at this morning’s press event to launch Dublin’s ‘Suicide or Survive’ jersey logo campaign.
