Sky Sports signs four-year RaboDirect Pro12 deal

The subscription channel will begin broadcasting matches at the start of the 2014/15 season.

SKY SPORTS HAS signed a four-year deal to air live RaboDirect Pro12 matches from 2014/15.

The subscription channel will show 30 games-a-season as well as the semi-finals and final of the competition, which sees the Irish provinces take on sides from Wales, Scotland and Italy.

RTÉ and TG4 currently hold the rights to show Pro12 fixtures in Ireland but Sky’s move means viewers will now have additional choice as to where they want to watch games.

John Feehan, Chief Executive of RaboDirect PRO12, said: ”We are delighted to welcome Sky Sports to the RaboDirect PRO12 family.

“Our competition is growing from strength to strength and we feel this partnership with Sky Sports will allow us to extend the reach of the RaboDirect PRO12 in the UK and Ireland.”

Wish RTE would show all the Rabo games on its HD channel, much prefer RTE to TG4 for watching Rabo games.

If tg4 had English commentary option like s4c do, it’d be ok. BBC alba is good for games also. Given the language is meant to be Gaelic but most of the commentary is done in English. Less Ryle nugent commentary is always good

I dunno Johnny, the fact the picture quality is so poor is a bigger turn off for me than the language.

Does that mean that BBC Wales, BBC Norn Iron & BBC Alba along with S4C will not be allowed to show games also?

Don’t mind where they show it as long as I can continue to watch the lovely Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhgaill on TG4 :-)

Delighted! A huge step in the right direction for the competition… Nothing worse than finding out the game is being shown on tg4!!

Anyone notice that a lot of the stuff shown on RTE 2 HD isn’t even in hd, the quality is no where near as good as Sky Sports … maybe its because they upscale footage rather than filming in hd.
