Sky Sports News is moving channel and it has a new name

It’s a whole new world, people.

SKY SPORTS NEWS is dead. Long live Sky Sports News HQ.

The station will relaunch on 12 August with a new name and a new home — Jim White and co will move up the dial from channel 405 to 401.

Other Sky Sports channels will move one number up the Sky digital system.

A new schedule will put a “greater emphasis on reporting stories under investigation, delivered by a team of over 200 staff, 32 reporters and 20 presenters.”

An impressive set, which is twice the size of the current one, will be the backdrop for the new production.

“Sky Sports News has always been authoritative, innovative, fun and relevant,” Sky Sports News HQ executive editor Andy Cairns, says.

“These changes reflect how we’re staying ahead of the curve and anticipating the needs of our viewers. Sports fans want to get even further into the heart of sports news, and we’ll take them there with the best resources: 11 presentation points in a fantastic new studio, new ways of reflecting stories under investigation and those driving social conversations, and revamped apps and digital services.”

Completely pointless channel and in the end it’s the subscriber that forks out for it.

Sky News loses on average £35 million as year but Murdoch bankrolls it as he is determined to bump BBC News out of the way. Sky News’ UK tv share is about 500,000 for its peak viewing 5-6 pm.
Most of its bulletins are below the 30,000 mark, the level where recordings are listed.

Sky Sports News is even lower. Waste of money. Subscriber money.

Would it not have made more sense to put SSN HQ on Ch 406, leave the other channels as they are with SS 5 on 405. Strange …

So if you pay the extra do you get Sky Sports News HQ HD? Or as some people may take to calling it SSNHQHD? Trips off the tongue doesn’t it?….and lands in a heap on the footpath. What a load of tripe! Is this a sponsored article?
