Here's this week's opening fixtures in the 2014 Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cups

There is action over the next three days in the third-level competitions.

SOME OF THE best young footballers and hurlers in the country will be in action this week as the 2014 Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cup competitions start.

In the Sigerson Cup there is action in the preliminary round and first round tomorrow along with the opening game in Group A of the Fitzgibbon Cup.

Tuesday

Sigerson Cup
Preliminary Round

Queen’s University (Belfast) v UL, The Dubs, 2pm, (Ref: Barry Cassidy, Derry).
First Round
Athlone IT v UCD, Athlone IT GAA pitch, 5pm, (Ref: Martin Duffy, Sligo).

Fitzgibbon Cup Group A
Carlow IT v St Pat’s Mater-Dei, Carlow IT, 7.30pm, (Ref: John Keenan, Wicklow).

On Wednesday there are three games pencilled in for the Sigerson Cup.

Sigerson Cup
Preliminary Round

IT Tralee v NUI Galway, IT Tralee GAA pitch, 2pm, (Ref: Conor Lane, Cork).
First Round
UUJ v IT Sligo, Jordanstown, 2pm, (Ref: Ciaran Branagan, Down).
Trinity College v UCC, Clanna Gael Fontenoy, Ringsend, 4pm, (Ref: Anthony Nolan, Wicklow).

While on Thursday there are four group games taking place in the Fitzgibbon Cup.

Group A

UCC v Waterford IT, Mardyke, 2.30pm, (Ref: Alan Kelly, Galway).
Group C
Cork IT v Limerick IT, Cork IT, 7.30pm, (Ref: Johnny Ryan, Tipperary).
Group D
Dublin IT v NUI Galway, Parnell’s GAA club, Coolock, 2.30pm, (Ref: TBC).

Friday

Fitzgibbon Cup
Group B

UL v UCD, UL Grounds, 2.30pm, (Ref: Fergal Horgan, Tipperary).
