Better option then Westwood at the moment anyway but he still not what he was by any means.The only half decent GKs playing at the moment are Bunn,Henderson and Randolph. Having said that it would be no harm having an experienced head in such a young team, if he was to come back it dosnt mean hed be first choice

He’s not playing for his club, and he’s not getting any younger. Definitely time to move on with the younger players.

He was beyond woeful at the euros. Cost us several goals.

He’s past it anyway not the same player since his injury, everytime he played last year he looked a little slow

he is honestly past it, he isn’t getting his game with villa, when he did he lets in 3 against Bradford. we need to move on, give Randolph or forde a chance in goal. we need to learn to move on when players retire, we’ve seen the same ” bring him back” campaign with duff, but we must move on and give youth a chance

My instant reaction when I heard this was ‘ Oh No !’ Shay owes Ireland nothing but I think he should consider retirement from the top level. When he plays, he is unreliable and his standards have slipped hugely over the last 18 months. Harsh but true.

Oh sure………why not get Niall Quinn back too? And Tony Grealish maybe? Seriously though Shay was a great servant but once you’re gone you’re gone and considering we won’t be qualifying for Brazil 2014 this campaign should be utilised for building for the future, not wallowing in the past
