SHAUN MALONEY WAS Scotland’s hero as Ireland suffered their first defeat of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Maloney struck for the game’s only goal in the 75th minute after a perfectly-executed set piece caught the Irish defence napping.

“We might have switched off a bit for the corner,” Seamus Coleman admitted afterwards.

“We’re all disappointed but it’s early in the group and we’ve got to move on. We’re certainly disappointed.”

Robert, this is every bit as logical as the granny rule; nothing wrong with it at all

What an absolute joke of a sport. The granny rule is bad, but this is beyond belief.
