Sergio Aguero could be fit for City's Stoke clash

The Argentine has been out of action since August 19 when he sustained a knee injury in the 3-2 win over Southampton.

MANCHESTER CITY STRIKER Sergio Aguero has stepped up his rehabilitation in a bid to be fit to play Stoke City on Saturday.

Premier League champions City have published a series of photographs on their website that show the Argentina international in training with the club’s fitness coach at their Carrington training ground.

The 24-year-old striker, who last season won the title for City with a dramatic last-minute goal against QPR on the final day, has been out of action since August 19 when he sustained a knee injury in the 3-2 win over Southampton.

“Whether Stoke is too soon for a return or not remains to be seen,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

City had expressed their optimism the player would be fit by mid-September following scans on his knee. The pictures show Aguero taking part in stretching and running exercises. Following the international break, City resume league action away to Stoke on Saturday.

Despite his injury, Aguero linked up with the Argentina squad this month, to the displeasure of City manager Roberto Mancini.
