Semple Stadium to host next May's Cork Waterford Munster hurling clash

The Thurles venue will host the game despite speculation it would be held in Walsh Park in Waterford.

SEMPLE STADIUM WILL be the main venue for next year’s programme of games in the Munster senior hurling championship.

The Thurles venue only hosted one senior hurling game this summer – the quarter-final meeting of Clare and Waterford – with the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick hosting the remaining three games.

There had been speculation that Walsh Park in Waterford was in the running to host next May’s quarter-final tie between Cork and Waterford but the Munster Council last night confirmed that the game will take place at Semple Stadium.

The semi-final clash between Tipperary and Limerick is also to take place at Semple Stadium while the venue for the semi-final tie between All-Ireland champions Clare and Cork or Waterford, will be held in Semple Stadium or the Gaelic Grounds.

The final is to take place on July 13th at a venue to be confirmed while the fixture details for the Munster senior football championship have also been revealed.
