Scottish winning streak continues after Argentina miss last-minute drop goal

Tommy Seymour’s left wing breaks set up two tries for his team.

VERN COTTER MUST wonder what all the fuss over Scottish rugby is about. The New Zealander, and former Clermont coach, has now won three games on the spin since taking over as Scotland boss.

The Scots beat Argentina 21-19 last night but needed a late Duncan Weir penalty and an even later Argentine drop goal miss to get there. Cotter has now led the country to a comfortable win over the US Eagles and nerve-janglers over Canada and Argentina, who cannot drag themselves from a dangerous, losing slump.

Glasgow’s Tommy Seymour was the star of the Scottish show as his breaks teed up Stuart Hogg and Henry Pyrgos for tries in each half. Argentina responded with tries from Javier Ortega Desio and the impressive Joaquin Tuculet. Out-half Nicolas Sanchez landed two penalties and a drop goal but, crucially, missed two conversions and snatched at the DG attempt in stoppage time.
