Scan for Earls, as BOD considers surgery

Munster will learn on Monday how long winger Keith Earls is likely to be sidelined with the injury he suffered over the weekend.

MUNSTER AND IRELAND winger Keith Earls will have a scan on Monday to determine just how serious the knee injury he sustained at the weekend is.

The Limerick man had to be helped from the pitch at the Aviva Stadium in the opening minutes of the Reds’ PRO12 clash with Leinster and he is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.

“He looks to have suffered ligament damage that will certainly rule him out of Munster’s November Heineken Cup games but as yet a timeframe for a return hasn’t been established,” a statement read.

Otherwise, coach Tony McGahan has a full panel to pick from ahead of Munster’s opening European fixture against Northamption on Saturday.

The Irish Times, meanwhile, is reporting that Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll could require surgery to fully address the ongoing shoulder issue he has been trying to play with in recent months.
