Bacary Sagna on the verge of completing move to Manchester City

Arsenal defender closes in on lucrative pay increase with the top-flight champions.

PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS Manchester City may have a £49m transfer cap to deal with owing to a breach of Financial Fair Play regulations but the club are still determined to bring in new faces this summer.

And it appears Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is inching ever closer to a switch to Eastlands.

The 31 year-old has reportedly agreed a three-year deal, worth £120,000 per week. The French international is out of contract at the North London side and can move on a free transfer.

He’s set to more than double his wages but will certainly play less games due to Pablo Zabaleta’s relatively immovable presence on the right side of the City defence.

Sagna’s ability to play as a centre-back, if required, does offer Manuel Pellegrini some flexibility especially with Joleon Lescott moving on.

In recent seasons, City have made a point of signing a number of Arsenal players with both Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy making the move in 2011. City were also in the hunt for Robin van Persie’s signature in 2012, prior to his move to Manchester United.
