IRISH CYCLIST CAROLINE Ryan says she will target qualification for London 2012 at the Olympic road race in three months.
Ryan recently became the first Irish cyclist in over 100 years to win a world medal and speaking to RTÉ Sport, she said:
“It’s brilliant. We always said we could do it but to get it. For everything to work out on the day, for the race to go your way… we planned it all tactically but sometimes it doesn’t work out but everything slotted into place at the right time.”
The 32-year-old policewoman from Kildare, who had to contribute her own travel costs for the recent event, only switched from rowing to cycling in 2008.
