MANCHESTER UNITED’S RYAN Giggs has revealed that he could be tempted to go into management once his glittering playing career ends.
The Welsh veteran has won 12 Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two Champions League titles during his 21 years in United’s senior team and made his 600th league appearance for the club against Wigan last month.
However, at 38, his place in the starting XI is not assured and, in an interview in The Guardian this morning, Giggs suggested that this season may be his last.
Despite his current lack of experience, he has also been touted as a future manager at Old Trafford and says following in the footsteps of mentor Alex Ferguson is something he has thought seriously about.
When I do finish playing, I’ll try to find the next best thing. Management does interest me,” Giggs said.
“The nearer I get to finishing, the more I think about it. All I can do is prepare myself as best I can for when I do finish. I’ve been doing my coaching courses with Nev [Gary Neville] – levels one two, A-Licence. We’re starting the Pro-Licence next year.”
United, who sit second in the Premier League behind Chelsea, face Stoke at home this afternoon.
