GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI MAY not be Ireland boss after next summer’s World Cup in Brazil but the RTÉ’s panel’s place looks secure.
Montrose bosses today announced that they have signed a deal which means they have ‘exclusive Irish free-to-air broadcast rights’ for Ireland’s qualifiers for Euro 2016 and the World Cup in 2018.
The deal which takes in home and away games on TV, radio, online and mobile is part of “a European Broadcasting Union (EBU) agreement involving 30 countries broadcasting national team matches extensively on free-to-air television in addition to radio and digital platforms.”
“RTÉ is proud to be able to secure coverage of our national side in these major international fixtures which guarantees that Irish fans will be able to follow their team’s journey to qualify for these key tournaments free-to-air,” said Ryle Nugent, Group Head of Sport RTÉ said.
