ROY KEANE AND England striker Gabby Agbonlahor almost came to blows on the Aston Villa training pitch, according to the Daily Mail today.
That row as well as an argument with Fabian Delph contributed to a poisonous atmosphere amongst Paul Lambert’s set-up and ultimately contributed to the Corkman’s departure last month, they report.
‘The atmosphere was horrible. It went downhill the moment Keane arrived. He pissed off all the big names he shouldn’t have pissed off and his relationship with the senior players slowly fell apart,” reporter Chris Wheeler quotes one source as saying.
“There was so much gloom about the place every time he turned up. When he went there was just a feeling of euphoria and relief.”
Agbonlahor reportedly took offence when Keane interrupted a discussion he was having with manager Lambert. While three Lions midfielder Delph warned Keane at one stage: “‘Don’t try to fucking mug me off.”
The Ireland assistant boss quit on 28 November citing the issue of balancing his FAI job with that of the Premier League club.
‘Pissed off the big names’? Delph? Agbonlahor? That’s the problem with the Premiership, nobodies who make a fortune suddenly think they’re God’s gift. He should have made them mop out the changing rooms and cleaned some boots.
“The source says”.. Why does the the score publish this bullshit
Keane would start a fight in an empty room so I’d say the story is accurate!
Saipan, United, Sunderland, Ipswich, Villa, etc, etc; wherever he goes ends in a row so at this stage it’s hard to believe he’s not the problem!
Must be true if that bastion of fine journalism “the daily mail” say it is. .. Who is this “Delph ” guy anyways some bit player footballer for Villa . The crap that gets written about Roy Keane gets better every day I must say. Yea he prob ain’t everyone’s cup of tae but those Villa guys think they are better than they actually are and not even a Johnstons Paint winners medal between them..
Why are you saying that the Villa players think they are better than they actually are? You just alluded to the fact that the story is probably bullsh*t in your first sentence.
Mug me off?
The Daily Mail? Must be true…
Big names alright!
It’s come from the Daily Mail so there’s a high chance it’s fabricated but if this quote is true than God help Villa fans,
‘The problem with Keane is that he demands the same standards that he was used to at United and the lads at Villa don’t get paid enough to put up with that kind of c**p. He just got everybody down.’
They don’t get paid enough to have high standards? No wonder they’re constantly involved in relegation battles year after year !
Once again the Roy defenders come out. It’s never poor Roy’s fault. He is of course the only professional in world sport and everybody else is wrong.
And he definitely doesn’t have a problem communicating with players, especially those at Sunderland,Ipswich,Man Utd or Aston Villa.
Managers like Alex Ferguson and Jack Charlton could learn a lot from Roy about management because his standards are higher than everybody else’s and managers like those will never achieve anything.
I didn’t read one comment defending him yet. Get off yer giant horse. Comments about that dirty rag and a few about the ‘stars’ of Villa and other clubs. All those wannabe rappers, gangsters and bad boys should have to do a year in the boot room and with the groundskeeper to learn some humility.
Ipwich players were delighted when Keane was gone seems Villa players are too
Haven’t heard any villa fans say that
According to the source “He wanted the same standards as he had in Old Trafford. We’re not paid enough to take that crap”. As a Villa fan, I’m seriously sorry he’s left. He was giving the senior players the kick in the ass they need, but of course nowadays, players feel they get paid enough to justify dictating to managers.
Villa fans on twitter you will find are glad Roy has gone.
The daily mail says it? This rag should be shut down!! Prints half truths at best!! Get better journalism in a school paper!!! Feeds on the suggestive nature of the public, hate it!
Fearghal read my post again slowly this time as I did state he ain’t “everyone’s cup of tea” I’m not backing him up per say but only drawing attention to the crazy media roadshow that follows Keane around and yes he courts a bit of it himself I will admit. But these Villa players are bit players at best and I’m not trying to insult Villa fans out there by the way.
Villa have been on a great run since he buggered off! Poor Roy just can’t catch a break!
Don’t try and make a fool out him Peter. Wouldn’t say Keane would be impressed / intimidated by someone going all ‘street’ io him. Say he just stared him down as usual.
Again legend player but people skills , well …….
The daily mail? Get a life. You should be ashamed of yourself.
