'Premier League is the place to be': Roy Keane braced for massive challenge at Villa

The Corkman says the offer from the Midlands club was ‘too good to turn down’.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND and now Aston Villa assistant coach Roy Keane admits he is ready for ‘a massive challenge’ with Aston Villa and Paul Lambert.

In the below interview with AVTV, the Corkman says he has been an acquaintance of the Scot since being manager of Ipswich and the offer from Villa was “too good to turn down.”

He adds that he first spoke to the Aston Villa manager about potentially being his number two “six or seven weeks ago” – which would roughly place the contact in the same week as Neil Lennon’s departure from Celtic.
