Alf-Inge Haaland hits back at Roy Keane with Saddam Hussein comparison

You’ve got to admit, their beards are pretty similar.

ROY KEANE’S LATEST autobiography The Second Half is being drip-fed to us all day after it reportedly went on sale in a Tesco in Burnage ahead of Thursday’s official release.

As well as quotes on the Glazers, Rio Ferdinand’s missed drugs test, a bust-up with Peter Schmeichel and The Rock of Gibraltar, there is a line on that infamous challenge on Manchester City’s Alf-Inge Haaland back in 2001.

“There are things I regret in my life and he’s not one of them,” Keane says of the horror tackle which helped to end the Norwegian’s career.

This evening, former Blackburn Rovers and Southampton player Egil Johan Ostenstad (there’s a blast from the past) tweeted Haaland to ask for a response.

His compatriot sent back a picture of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and compared his beard with Keane’s. Unsurprisingly, he has since deleted it.

It’s going to be a long week…
