KILKENNY’S ROWER-INISTIOGE have qualified for the AIB All-Ireland club IHC final with a 1-14 to 0-7 win today over Antrim’s Clooney Gaels.
The Kilkenny champions produced a dominant second-half performance to claim victory by ten points at Páirc Tailteann in Navan. They had trailed Clooney Gaels by 0-7 to 0-6 at half-time but turned the game around notably afterwards.
Ciaran Ryan fired to the net early on in the second-half to put Rower-Inistioge on the road to success and by the third-quarter mark they were in front by 1-10 to 0-7. They struck four points without reply in the closing stages with Kilkenny senior Kieran Joyce in their ranks as they advanced to the decider in Croke Park on Saturday February 8th.
Rower-Inistioge will hope to build on Kilkenny club’s record in this competition with Clara and St Lachtain’s both after claiming All-Ireland intermediate glory in the last four years.
But Rower-Inistioge will have to wait to discover the identity of their opponents after the other semi-final between Youghal and Kilnadeema-Leitrim was postponed today due to an unplayable pitch at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.
