ST FAITHLEACH’S FINISHED with five unanswered points to book their place in the Roscommon SFC semi-finals.
The Ballyleague club needed a late equaliser to get out of jail against Roscommon Gaels last week but they did just enough in this afternoon’s replay.
They led by two points at half-time, 0-7 to 0-5, but were sent reeling by a Gaels goal and trailed by 1-9 to 0-8 as the game entered its final quarter.
Faithleach’s lost Enda Kenny to a black card deep into injury time but by that point, their late blitz had sealed a 0-13 to 1-9 win.
They will be joined in the final four by Western Gaels who weathered a second-half storm from a resurgent Castlerea St Kevin’s.
Gaels racked up an eight-point lead in the first half, 0-10 to 0-2, but Ger Heneghan points from play and from frees helped Kevin’s to cut that margin.
Kevin’s forward Peter Farrell fisted home a consolation goal two minutes from time as it finished 0-14 to 1-8.
