Brendan Rodgers lauds Luis Suarez attitude since return from 'biting' ban

The Uruguayan is meeting the standards the club sets, says the manager.

LIVERPOOL MANAGER Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on striker Luis Suarez for his determination to succeed at the club.

The 26-year-old’s future with the Premier League side was surrounded by uncertainty in the close-season, with Arsenal and Real Madrid both linked with moves for the want-away striker.

However, after committing himself to the Anfield side, Suarez has since returned from a 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic to make a big impact this season, netting three times in his last two league appearances.

And Rodgers is thrilled with the Uruguay international’s contribution.

“With Luis, he demands the best from himself and his team-mates at all times, and we saw that against Crystal Palace (a 3-1 win last weekend), even right at the end when the game was won,” Rodgers told the club’s official website.

“You see his work-rate and his demand for a better ball into the box, and that’s what we want. I think it’s much easier to keep on performing well and, if you do lose, then you can still go into the next game with confidence.

“We did at Manchester United — we may have lost there, but we played really well, and that gave us the belief to go into the next game at Sunderland with the right attitude.

“But if your standards slip and you start losing one or two games, it’s a lot harder to get back up to the level again.

“With the likes of Luis, that demand is what we want — the demand that we maintain our standards at all times. It is an important part of what we are trying to do.”

Wudnt mind the stunt with the child so much but Rodgers doesnt need to CONSTANTLY pipe up with praise for him.its only putting attention on him AGAIN and if he does step outta line AGAIN,Rodgers and LFC look ridiculous AGAIN.i’m sure Suarez would just rather keep his head down for the time being

Agree, I’m an LFC supporter but have already got really tired of hearing Rodgers speaking to the press at every conceivable opportunity – just keep the collective heads down, get on with the season and secure one of those 4th spots, then tall you bloody want after having achieved something worthwhile.

That stunt with his children was very sad by Rodgers to be fair…. Oooh look at me the family man I’m great…. Like Rodgers as a manager but he does the bollox with players at times…. How many other managers, past and present would allow a stunt like that??

Sure at this stage it doesn’t matter what he does, the press/ trolls will take the negative view anyway. If its bad he is a mad monester destroying the very fabric of the game. If its good he’s just being devious evil man destroying the very fabric of the game.

The ‘stunt’ with the kids wasn’t for everyone and it did feel a little over the top but apparently it’s pretty common in South America so there is a cultural difference there. Wouldn’t read much into it; he’ll still be off in the summer if we can’t secure CL football.

I like Rodgers but do agree he should keep his mouth shut a little more. He’s a reporters dream; doesn’t have to answer every question!
Lfc are miles away from a realistic title challenge and we don’t need building up for a big fall….Lord knows we’ve enough supporters doing that for us!

Looks like he will be gone in the summer but if he helps get the Pool into the Champions League, he will be remembered for the right reasons. Get £60-£70 million for him and buy a few world class players to replace him. Hopefully none in the Andy Carroll class!!
