Dundalk's Hoban hits back at Roddy's talk of 'cowardly' challenge on Derry player

Derry defender Ryan McBride is expected to remain in hospital tonight as he continue his recovery.

FURIOUS RODDY COLLINS has accused Dundalk’s Patrick Hoban of setting out to “do” Ryan McBride.

Derry defender McBride is expected to remain in hospital again tonight for observation as he continues to recover from a nasty clash of heads which left him unconscious.

Play at Oriel Park was halted for more than 10 minutes while McBride was treated on the pitch before he was taken to Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital last night.

Hoban emerged the better of the two from the collision and was fit to continue but afterwards, Collins blasted his challenge as “cowardly.”

“He done him. I believe he done him,” Collins told Drive 105.3FM after the 3-0 defeat.

“I think the referee [Tomas Connolly] has bottled it for sure.

At the end of the day, regardless if you win, lose or draw, someone coming in and doing someone like that for me it’s not on. It’s cowardly.

Hoban hit back on Twitter this morning and said: ”To say I went on the pitch to hurt [someone] is beyond ridiculous.”

“Contesting for the ball nothing more. Hope McBride is okay #speedyrecovery”
