Rocket man: O'Sullivan takes 10-7 lead in world snooker final

Three time champion holds a slight advantage over Ali Carter.

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN TAKES a 10-7 lead over Ali Carter into day two of the Snooker World Championship final at the Crucible.

The three time champion was in impressive form in yesterday’s first session, making two century breaks – including a 141, to take a 5-3 lead in the final.

Carter battled back from a 9-5 deficit in yesterday’s evening session to secure a scrappy final frame and ensure that O’Sullivan – who beat his fellow Essex native 18-8 in the 2008 final – had something to think about heading into today’s play.

The pre-final threat from O’Sullivan that he could retire after this tournament – as well as his aggressive style – has the crowd very much in his favour and even more so after a 92 break in frame seven that former champion Dennis Taylor described as “one of the finest breaks you will ever wish to see.”

The final resumes today at 2.30pm.
