IRELAND’S ROBBIE KEANE has capped a fine year for club and country by winning the MLS MVP.
The 34-year-old striker has led LA Galaxy’s charge to the MLS Cup by not just scoring goals but creating bags of chances for his team-mates.
Here are his highlights from 2014:
22 March – Keane runs half the length of the pitch before burying into the back of the net in the 1-1 draw with Real Salt Lake
21 May – A left-footed drive from outside the box away to FC Dallas
16 July – Keane finds the top corner from long range in a 5-1 defeat of New England Revolution
2 August – Just the two goals and one assist for the Galaxy captain in a 3-1 away win against Portland Timbers
20 August – A goal and an assist as the Galaxy overcome Colorado Rapids in a seven-goal thriller
31 August – He makes room for himself with a cheeky nutmeg before dinking the ball over the head Chivas USA keeper Dan Kennedy
20 September – Scores one and sets up another in a smash-and-grab win over FC Dallas
28 September – Set up by Landon Donovan, Keane pulls off a superb lob as Galaxy beat Thierry Henry and the New York Red Bulls 4-0 at home
4 October – A sweetly-struck volley in the 3-0 win over Toronto
10 November – In the MLS play-off second leg, Keane scores one and assists Donovan with a delightful chip as they put five past Real Salt Lake
