Robbie Keane signs multi-year contract extension with LA Galaxy

Good news for the Ireland striker.

THE LA GALAXY have announced Robbie Keane has signed a new multi-year contract extension with the club.

Keane expressed his delight with the news when speaking to the club’s official website.

“I’m enjoying my football and that’s the most important thing. It was only a matter of time for me to sign. It was obviously done a while ago and I’m very pleased. I think it works out for both myself and the Galaxy.

“So far pre-season has been good and everyone is looking forward to the real business. We can see then how it comes together and the two new strikers that we have will suit me because of the way I play.”

Keane struck 16 goals and added 11 assists in 23 appearances during the Galaxy’s 2013 MLS campaign. Since joining the Galaxy in August 2011, the Irish international has scored 34 goals and notched 21 assists in 55 MLS appearances.

Keane has been a member of the MLS Best XI for the past two consecutive seasons and he finished in the top three of the 2013 MLS MVP vote. The 33-year-old forward also found the back of the net seven times while helping the Galaxy to raise the MLS Cup in both 2011 and 2012.
