Robbie Brady and Ciaran Clark ruled out of Ireland squad

No replacements are being called up for the Latvia and Poland games, according to an FAI statement.

ROBBIE BRADY AND Ciaran Clark will miss Martin O’Neill’s first game as Ireland manager, with the duo ruled out of the upcoming Latvia and Poland friendlies.

Brady has a groin problem while Clark, who assistant manager Roy Keane watched in action yesterday, has a foot injury.

An FAI statement has said that there are no plans to call up replacements for the pair.

No call ups mean we are starting to look pretty bare at centreback for two games with just O’Shea and St. Ledger as regular, and Pearce as back up. Only other options are to use O’Brien, Ward or Kelly in there if needed.

Or ODea could be called up, might be worth seeing Alex Pearce given another run.

Fair play I bow to your knowledge , google Darren o Dea and you’ll find an Irish examiner article quoting o’dea saying he only moved to the Ukraine for the money wouldn’t want a player like that playing for your country. You want a player who plays with pride and not motivated by how big a cheque he can get out of it.

He moved as Toronto didn’t offer him a new deal and went to the club that offered him the best deal.. He never wanted to leave in the first place but was forced out

Fionn if you were working in Canada and got offered considerably more money in Ukraine you’d move as well. I admire his honesty.

But yet we have Robbie Keane as captain.. He hardly moved to the MLS for its footballing quality. Was offered more money by LA then anyone in England.. That’s money grabbing at its finest

Fair enough I jumped the gun on o’dea but he was shipped out from Toronto for earning to much and joined a Ukrainian club that has more money than sense (maybe they’ll try sign Paul Green as well) anyway don’t think he’s good enough for Ireland. As for Robbie Keane he is at the end of his career when he can afford the luxury of playing in an inferior league after he’s played for inter , Leeds , spurs and Liverpool along with wolves and Coventry and as far as I know Keane is the 5th top international goal scorer from Europe of all time correct me if I’m wrong.

He went to l.a at 30 that far from the end of his career he cashed in cause he didn want to play for a bottom half team.. Failed at inter and Liverpool.. Ya he’s scored 50 odd goals for Ireland but he’s been in the senior squad since he’s 18.

A better record than every other European international in the last 14 year’s apart from klose and David villa and infairness he never got a chance at Liverpool few would have with Torres playing the way he was back then.

Not disputing his international record but you proved my point he went to the MLS at 30 while his still good enough to play in the premiership. He sold out for the money..

I read an article a few months back where he was interviewed and it was very honest and brutal. He’d just settled in Canada and was basically dumped and left with out a club for the second time in 2 or 3 years and he had up sticks again on his young family, nothing glamorous or greedy about it. He’s not that bad a player, he’s just not consistent.

What’s the big deal. Football is a job like any other job. If someone offers you substantially more money to do the same thing or less in any other career, everyone here would jump at it. This nonsense about club loyalty drives me crazy. These fellas have every right to make as much as they can in there short careers. Who wouldn’t want to move California and earn a packet. Fair play to Keane I say and to a lesser degree o’dea.

The future still includes Dunne, Delaney and Shane Duffy. I’d pick all ahead of O’Dea.
