#RIPTriggs: 6 pics of Roy Keane and football’s most famous dog

We thought he died in 2010, but Roy Keane said this morning that his legendary labrador Triggs only passed away recently.

FOOTBALL’S MOST FAMOUS dog since Pickles recovered the stolen Jules Rimet trophy in 1966 has passed away.

Roy Keane revealed this morning that his iconic labrador Triggs, famously seen by his side during the fallout from the 2002 Saipan crisis, died a few weeks ago.

The former Manchester United general broke the sad news in Dublin where he made his annual appearance in support of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Reports in late 2010 that he had died from cancer prompted Triggs to pen a memoir to correct the record. Written in conjunction with Ross O’Carroll Kelly author Paul Howard, Triggs: The Autobiography is due to hit the shelves in time for next month’s European Championships.

We’ve paid our respects before, but just to be on the safe side, here are six pics of Keano and his old buddy.
