FORMER UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT champion of the world, Riddick Bowe, has told World Boxing News that there is nobody worth following in the boxing world and that he is planning return to the sport.
The 44-year-old, best known for his three clashes against Evander Holyfield and two brutal bouts against Andrew Golota, feels he can still offer plenty to the sport that made his name in the 1990s.
“There is no one to watch anymore,” Bowe lamented.
“I am hoping to be back sometime in the month of January. The world will be shocked and amazed by me looking the part and being the part because I am going to be cut up.”
Bowe claimed earlier this year that his ultimate goal is to dethrone the world champion Klitschko brothers and bring some vigour and mischief back into the sport.
“Where is the excitement? There is no excitement. There is no one like Mike Tyson, there’s no one like myself.”
The Brooklyn native’s last fight took place on 13 December 2008 when he defeated Gene Pukall on the undercard of the Wladimir Klitschko-Hasim Rahman contest, where Bowe won an eight-round decision.
